Finger Drumming World Championship

We are excited to announce the participation of the world's greatest player in the highly anticipated Finger Drumming World Championship at Sample Music Festival 2025 in Berlin. Get ready to be amazed by the incredible skills of these gifted musicians as they demonstrate the cutting-edge art of live beat making.

Schedule

Preliminary auditions will take place on July 19th at 4pm at the House of Music, Revaler Strasse 99, 10245 Berlin.

In a knockout system, the top finalists will be selected. Due to the high volume of applications, please limit your performance to a maximum of 2 minutes for the submissions.

The Finals will take place at 9pm at the same venue and each competitor will have a 2-minute solo performance each round. If a competitor advances to the finals, they will play for 2 minutes. In the event of a tie, it is recommended to have an additional 2 minutes prepared. To be on the safe side, please bring at least 10 minutes of your best material. The jury will choose 3 competitors to move on to the final round. For this, an additional 2-minute showcase will be required. In the case of a tie, the audience will have a say in the decision.

Rules

It's completely up to you to choose your favorite music genre and perform it using finger drumming, using one-shot samples or loops, in a 2-minute routine.

Hardware

In order to maintain a smooth competition, we have a maximum limit of 2 controllers (pad/midi controller or midi keyboard) and a laptop. We will supply 2 x 6.3mm mono Jack cables or 1 x RCA/Chinch cable for you to connect your hardware to our mixer.

Criteria

The jury will consider the following criteria in making their decision: musicality, sample choice, harmony & tone, performance technique, timing, and creativity.

To finalize your registration, it is necessary to purchase a competition ticket from our shop. Accommodation

We have partnered up with a hostel which is nearby our venue. On the hostel website you can get 10% discount on shared rooms with our code FRIENDS. However, a credit card is required to book the rooms.
