DJPRO at Music China 2024
Space, infinite expanses. The year is 2024 and these are the adventures of the Sample Music Festival, which has been on a 9-year journey to bring the electrifying magic of live digital performances to every corner of the universe.
This year's topic for our program is "What does the music on other planets sound like?" Prepare to be astounded by the creativity of both artists and lecturers.
We are excited to expand the number of landing targets, which now includes a music university, a multi-media showroom, and one of the most famous clubs for electronic music.
House of Music
The House of Music is Berlin's creative hub for musicians, companies, and organizations from the music industry. It is located at the RAW area in Friedrichshain/Kreuzberg, at Revaler Strasse 99, 10245 in Berlin.
Noisy Rooms
Noisy Rooms is Berlin's rehearsal space for musicians. We offer 23 rehearsal rooms ranging from 15 to 65 square meters in size as part of the House of Music. During the festival, we utilize these rooms for product presentations and workshops for our audience.
BIMM University
BIMM University offers music, film, and performing arts programs up to the master's level. It is located on the second floor of the House of Music and hosts Open Days at SMF for prospective students to experience life at BIMM University Berlin. Additionally, workshops are available for students and visitors to participate in..
HHV Store
Hip Hop Vinyl Store, Berlin's renowned shop for vinyl, shoes, and streetwear, is located in Friedrichshain at Grünberger Strasse 54, 10245 near the RAW area. They frequently host in-store concerts and events featuring artists from all around the world.
K-Pax
Join us on July 11th for a special event following our afternoon showcase at HHV store. The party continues at K-Pax, located at Markgrafendamm 18, just 2km from House of Music. Don't miss the epic scratch session, save the date and join us for a memorable night of music and fun.
Lighthouse
The Lighthouse for Digital Art is a modern museum devoted to exhibiting digital and new media art. Located in Berlin's RAW area, near the House of Music, it offers a one-of-a-kind immersive experience. A special ticket allows you to explore a captivating installation delving into the mysteries of the universe.
this year`s Landing point
All venues are located in Friedrichshain/Kreuzberg, mainly at the former Reichsbahnausbesserungswerk (R.A.W.) in Berlin. This cultural area, occupying over 70,000 square meters, is Germany's largest contiguous and permanently occupied space. It is adorned with graffiti and is home to several clubs.

DMC Scratch Battle
The DMC - the official DJ World Championship comes to Berlin again and will crown the best turntable artist at the Sample Music Festival 2024. The format is open for every scratch artist no matter what origin. Win participation in the official DMC Scratch World Finals and lots of prizes. The competition is powered by TECHNICS and JICO.

Beat League Competition
Calling all beat makers! Don't let the opportunity pass you by - join the BEAT LEAGUE contest at SMF 2024. Each contestant will be given the same sample and have 2 hours to create a beat. After the 3 winners are chosen and all participants are recognized, the award ceremony will follow.

DJ Rafik
Renowned as the undisputed master of turntablism, DJ Rafik reigns supreme as the most successful Battle DJ in the world. With unparalleled skill and unwavering passion, he has solidified his place in history as a legend of the art of scratching. In celebration of his talent, we are thrilled to announce his role as judge for the prestigious DMC Scratch Battle and expert facilitator of a workshop on his craft.
Steve Nash
Representing Poland, the reigning world champion of finger drumming, Steve Nash, is set to take the stage in Berlin to present his brandnew app for finger drumming. Get ready to be blown away by the mind-boggling talent of this finger drumming prodigy at SMF 2024.
Swing Flare Club
The Swing Flare Club is a creative and cutting-edge group of gifted artists who continuously push the limitations of music technology. Utilizing their exceptional abilities on turntables, mixers, and synthesizers, they curate and manage an interactive experience zones that allow quests to fully submerge themselves into the world of live music.
Dshanna
Dshanna is an electronic music artist from Berlin who also works as a product specialist for brands like TASCAM and Ableton. At SMF, she will supervise the TASCAM workshop room and lead the field recording competition that will take place during the event.
Dr.Motte
Renowned as the mastermind behind the iconic Loveparade in Berlin, Dr. Motte is an unparalleled figure in the world of electronic music. His contributions have solidified him as one of the most influential figures in the industry. We are thrilled to welcome him as a judge and panel participant for the DJONE competition on July 10th.
DJ Rasp
DJ Rasp is true party rocker behind a set of decks, he made a name for himself on the battle scene winning 8 British DJ Titles (DMC and IDA champion). You can find Rasp captivating crowds in clubs and events worldwide with a healthy balance of musical selection, showmanship and technical skills.
Tim Kroker
Tim Kroker will present a composition for the PULSAR-23, which he will also make playable in sheet music form. In his lecture, he will explain music theory and speak about the musical possibilities for modular systems.
Mika Heggemann
Mika Heggemann is highly regarded as the director of the Berlin Dance Music Event, and is recognized for his exceptional talent as a music producer. Known for his dynamic blend of electronic and dance music, he captivates audiences with his exhilarating sound.
Matthieu Crimersmois
Matthieu Crimersmois from Paris is the inventor of "ARTABLISM." He developed a machine called the Phonoptique to transcribe the gestures of scratching and also the art of turntable drawing, directly inspired by beat juggling and reminiscent of the Etch-a-Sketch game. Come see him speak at our annual symposium where he will give a lecture on his amazing work.
Manoli Moriaty
Manoli Moriaty is a music producer, performer, and scholar. Emerging from Manchester's electronic dance music scene, he has previously published research on Human-Computer interaction, polydisciplinary collaboration, and digital turntablism.
Dominik Müller
Dominik’s productions and sets gravitate toward dark, industrial, abstract techno and ambient: a form driven by pounding percussion layered with spacious soundscapes, and infused with cogent mechanical reverberations.
Not For Human Consumption
Not For Human Consumption is a collective focused on live techno. These artists mix melodic and dark tones to create an atmosphere to loose yourself in. From uptempo to dreamy minimalistic scenes. See them live on 12th of July at the Funkwerke Stream.
Grey Contrast
Experience the unique sound of Grey Contrast, a talented Pianist who has transformed into an Electronic Musician. Using the captivating technique of live looping, he creates mesmerizing techno beats that will leave you feeling inspired. Don't miss the chance to see him perform live at the Funkwerke Stream on July 12th.
CRONAM
CRONAM's musical journey began in the 90s as a turntablist, but his style has evolved over the years. He has delved into various genres, blending elements of contemporary Bass Music like Dubstep, IDM, and DNB with Techno. His unique sound is crafted using instruments such as Modular Synthesizers (Eurorack), Drum Machines, E-Drums, and occasional samples.
Vamp Acid
Vamp Acid, hailing from Berlin, is a unique blend of Acid Techno, Gothic vibes and Sci-Fi elements. Her sound is a fusion of sultry vocals, entrancing synths and nostalgic beats. Don't miss her live performance at the Sample Music Festival on July 12th, as she takes the stage as part of the Funkwerke Stream.
B.Maul
B.Maul, from Berlin, is a highly skilled finger drumming virtuoso. He was honored to be a part of the distinguished judging panel at the first-ever finger drumming world championship in 2017. This year, he joins forces with CRONAM to deliver a captivating performance that blends modular synthesizers, turntablism, and beats. Get ready to be inspired by their unique collaboration.
DJ Robert Smith
DJ Robert Smith is proudly known as the 2016 DMC champion of Germany, standing out as an influential figure in the dynamic world of turntablism and DJing in the country. We are thrilled to have him as a respected judge for both the DMC Scratch Battle and Portablism Battle, further solidifying his expertise in the field.
Sanès Medicine
Sanès Medicine, a dynamic duo of beat makers hailing from the vibrant city of Berlin, are known for their infectious blend of funky boom bap and impressive finger drumming skills. If you're looking for a electrifying live music experience, don't miss your chance to catch them at the renowned HHV store on July 11th, as they take the stage as part of SMF 2024.
Jeyênne
Jeyênne is the founder and owner of EMS in Cologne and Berlin. In his career as an internationally acclaimed DJ and producer, he has already performed with renowned artists such as Prodigy and Moby, and has produced numerous hit tracks for clubs. We are pleased to welcome him as a member of the jury.
Guvi Bosch
Guvi Bosch is a finger drumming veteran, recognized for his exceptional talent and dedication. In 2017, he achieved the prestigious title of being the winner of the very first Finger Drumming World Championship. We are excited and honored to have him as a member of our esteemed judging panel this year.
Arkaei
As a highly respected industry expert, ARKAEI has worked as a successful author for the prestigious DJWorx magazine. He also holds the esteemed position of resident artist for Øredev and the Biohacker Summit, and has made numerous guest appearances at top festivals such as Fusion and Nokta.
Alec Storey
Learn how to integrate hardware with Ableton Live for a performance scenario. This includes various forms of triggering, recording, and controlling different devices using Live as the central hub. Explore strategies for navigating a live set fluidly whilst also allowing for maximum gestural and expressive control.
Sjoerd van der Sanden
Explore the world of convolution, a robust mathematical tool extensively utilized in digital signal processing. Whether you are an audio engineer, a musician, or an enthusiast, this workshop will equip you with a profound understanding of how convolution operates and its inventive applications in sound manipulation.
Robosonic
Robosonic, a well-known music producer from Berlin, started the social project "Kinder vom Kotti" to collaborate with children and young people from Kreuzberg in creating music. At SMF, he will be conducting a workshop for young musicians.
