The event industry has been drastically transformed due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, leading us to cancel our events in Germany, Dubai, and the planned production in Saudi Arabia. However, we chose to remain optimistic in the face of adversity and successfully hosted an online scratch and finger drumming competition with participants from 16 different countries.
At the 2020 online edition, we have shifted our focus to celebrating Ludwig van Beethoven's 250th birthday. All participants were challenged to use samples from Beethoven's work, and the results of their creativity were simply astounding. The level of innovation and artistry achieved was truly remarkable and a testament to the timelessness of Beethoven's music. We are proud to have been able to honor the legacy of this great composer!
In terms of the online competition for the Scratch community, we have used the same format. All turntablism routines were crafted with samples from Beethoven's extensive catalog of works, allowing us to pay homage to the musical genius in the most fitting way.
Huge congratulations to all the winners, but also, a huge shoutout to every single competitor, judge, and our sponsors - you are all doing an incredible job in keeping the culture alive, and we are so grateful for you! Judging these things is never easy, but this year was especially difficult as the overall skill level was simply mind-blowing.
