Space, infinite expanses. The year is 2024 and these are the adventures of the Sample Music Festival, which has been on a 9-year journey to bring the electrifying magic of live digital performances to every corner of the universe.
This year's topic for our program is "What does the music on other planets sound like?" Prepare to be astounded by the creativity of both artists and lecturers.
We are excited to expand the number of landing targets, which now includes a music university, a multi-media showroom, and one of the most famous clubs for electronic music.
House of Music
House of Music is Berlin's creative hub for musicians, companies and organizations from the music industry.
Noisy Rooms
Noisy Rooms is Berlin's rehearsal space for musicians, providing 23 rehearsal rooms ranging from 15 to 65 square meters in size.
BIMM Music College
BIMM Berlin is a college in the BIMM University group, which provides music, film, and performing arts programs up to the masters level.

All venues are located in Friedrichshain/Kreuzberg, mainly at the former Reichsbahnausbesserungswerk (R.A.W.) in Berlin. This cultural area, occupying over 70,000 square meters, is Germany's largest contiguous and permanently occupied space. It is adorned with graffiti and is home to several clubs.

DMC Scratch Battle
The DMC - the official DJ World Championship comes to Berlin again and will crown the best turntable artist at the Sample Music Festival 2024. The format is open for every scratch artist no matter what origin. Win participation in the official DMC Scratch World Finals and lots of prizes.

We are excited to announce the participation of the world's greatest player in the highly anticipated Finger Drumming World Championship at Sample Music Festival 2024 in Berlin. Beat League Competition
Calling all beat makers! Don't let the opportunity pass you by - join the BEAT LEAGUE contest at SMF 2024. Each contestant will be given the same sample and have 2 hours to create a beat. After the 3 winners are chosen and all participants are recognized, the award ceremony will follow.

This trend emerged from a mixture of inquisitiveness and the need for Turntablism to be accessible at any place and time. EMPOWERING YOUTH THROUGH MUSIC
Working in collaboration with the non-profit organization Turning Tables, we are proud to offer an extensive range of workshops and musical activities specifically designed for young adults and aspiring musicians.
Swing Flare Club
The Swing Flare Club is a creative and cutting-edge group of gifted artists who continuously push the limitations of music technology. Utilizing their exceptional abilities on turntables, mixers, and synthesizers, they curate and manage an interactive experience zones that allow quests to fully submerge themselves into the world of live music.
Steve Nash
Representing Poland, the reigning world champion of finger drumming, Steve Nash, is set to take the stage in Berlin to present his brandnew app for finger drumming. Get ready to be blown away by the mind-boggling talent of this finger drumming prodigy at SMF 2024.
Dshanna
Dshanna earned knowqledge of the pedagogy aspect ot music on the Clara rotbauer Hochschule in Potsdam and finished with the work on Interface Asthetisch her BA 'Musikpädagogik und Musikvermittlung'. Visitors of SMF can look forward to her supervision of the Production Corner and a music performance using field recoding sounds
DJ Iron
DJ IRON discovered DJing in 1998, after much training and much patience he is considered as one of the best club Du's in Germany. He is lounng for more than 25 Years in the Clubs all over Germany. With his innovative style of mixing DJ IRON has even toured in Countries like Egypt, Jordan, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Taiwan and we are looking forward to welcome him as ambassador for JICO.
ARKAEI
Arkaei is a hybrid artist in every sense of the word - combining Du, vi, production & controllerism skills with a fearlessly playtul approach to technology and utter disregard for musical genres. His approach emphasizes the impact o a carefully-calibrated interplay between audio and generative visuals, always challenging stale concepts and incorporating something unexpected in his shows.
DJ Rasp
DJ Rasp is true party rocker behind a set of decks, he made a name for himself on the battle scene winning 8 British DJ Titles (DMC and IDA champion). You can find Rasp captivating crowds in clubs and events worldwide with a healthy balance of musical selection, showmanship and technical skills.
Tim Kroker
Tim Kroker will present a composition for the PULSAR-23, which he will also make playable in sheet music form. In his lecture, he will explain music theory and speak about the musical possibilities for modular systems.
Alex Sonnenfeld
Alex Sonnenfeld is known for developing a transcription methodology for turntablism & controllerism which is based on classical music notation. At SMF 2024, he will present an updated version of his Theory of Motion, which is a theoretical framework for controllerism.
Luigi Comito
Luigi Comito is known as the inventor of Synthablism - an electrifying facet of turntablism that allows musicians to control a synthesizer through the use of scratching. Look forward to a new lecture showcasing his creative power.
Manoli Moriaty
Manoli Moriaty is a music producer, performer, and scholar. Emerging from Manchester's electronic dance music scene, he has previously published research on Human-Computer interaction, polydisciplinary collaboration, and digital turntablism.
